Purifying Water in the Wild
Going backpacking, camping, or hiking is fun and adventurous. Having purified water to keep you hydrated during your activities is essential. This is crucial for your health to ensure you do not become ill. According to the World Health Organization, “Absent, inadequate, or inappropriately managed water and sanitation services expose individuals to preventable health risks.” There are many risks that come with drinking unsafe water, including transmitting diseases. The World Health Organization includes diseases that can be spread, “cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid and polio”.
A way to prepare for the wild is to take water purification tablets with you. After finding a water source, add a tablet to purify the water. Aquatabs can be a cost-effective and durable solution to do this.
Methods of Water Treatment
There are other ways to treat water in the wild besides Aquatabs. Before other water treatments, filtering the water is a smart choice to make to be extra cautious before other forms of water treatment. This method of disinfecting water can treat water against viruses and bacteria but not all of them.
